Is Today the Day?

Yes, the above ticker is correct.  I am 40 weeks 2 days pregnant.  We're still waiting over here. We're like a bunch of kids at Christmas just waiting for our big gift with excitment and anticipation.  Is today the day??  We'll see...
We almost feel cruel at this point calling any of the family if we aren't in labor b/c their hearts skip a beat when they see our number on the caller ID.   We have to hurry up and say "this isn't it."

It's getting harder not to wonder if it's ever going to happen.  We've been tempted to try every home intervention we hear about to get labor started but we're trying to put our faith in God's timing.  "Will I bring to the point of birth and not deliver."  "My soul waits in silence for God only, For my hope is from Him."  I've been trying to trust and meditate on these promises.  I just read something else that helped me put things in perspective.   It said to enjoy these last precious moments with this little one all to myself because soon I will have to share him with the world.  I think I was already feeling that way but didn't realize it.  I can't wait to meet him, but part of me will miss his kicks and movements and the special bond of having him so close.   However... we can't wait to meet him face to face and experience all the joy he will bring to so many.

Check back soon for an arrival update....

Have a great Monday!!

I love this photo.  My hands have become so swollen that I've had to retire my wedding rings temporarily, but the beautiful diamond band you see on my hand was my Grandmother Deggs'.
She passed it on to my mom who wore it for years until my dad bought her a new one for their anniversary several years ago.  It is normally too large for my fingers but fits perfectly during this little season.  That's Tyson's hand on the left side of the heart.  Sweet picture.

Any Day Now

Here are some (hopefully) final pregnancy pics we took the other day.  We just sort of spontaneously shot a few in the front yard after taking a walk.  I think I noticed some food on the front of my shirt.  Nice!  I guess my tummy just catches whatever falls down.   My mom is here with us and we've enjoyed our time with her.   I'm glad she's finally gotten to experience some of the pregnancy with me.   She's been a great help and good company.  Thank you Mom!

Tomorrow is our due date.  Can't believe it!  We got a good report at our 40 week visit yesterday.  Let's just say everything is a "go".  We're just waiting on my body to give us the green light that labor has started.  I'm trying to rest, but it's hard to sit still I'm so antsy.  I can't wrap my brain around the fact that we are about to meet our little boy face to face.  It feels like such a build up of anticipation.

We will keep you posted...

Expectantly Waiting...

Tyson took these photos yesterday.  We love the way they turned out.
I'm 35 weeks and 4 days.
Oh yeah, I never posted on what my second birthday gift was (besides the scripture notebook).  It was a MacBook Pro!  I can't put it down.  I had a blast putting this slideshow together.  This thing is going to get alot of use.  Love it!!

Thankful

Good morning everyone.  We are sure enjoying a taste of this "Fall" like weather here in NC.  I can't believe September is here already.  It was 69 degrees outside when we woke up.  Bring it on!
We are doing well.  My last prenatal visit was uneventful.  Since I've stopped working, I am SO much more relaxed and my body is alot more peaceful.  Who knows, this little guy may settle in for the long haul now.
When we thought he may come sooner than later, my perfectionistic tendencies were exposed and I was a little freaked out by feeling so unprepared.  Some of you who have raised children are probably grinning right now just thinking of how I'm about to face this little issue head on. It will be good for me.  I'm sure God is going to use motherhood to refine me in more ways than I can imagine.  I've enjoyed the slow pace of the last couple of weeks.  It's allowed me to take the time to stop and reflect more on this season and savor the precious moments of carrying this little one.   I've realized lately that the beauty of this time often gets smothered in my complaints of every little ache, pain, and inconvenience.  Therefore, I am making a conscious effort to set aside the moaning and groaning and put on a heart of thankfulness.
Soooo....Here is a little list of things I am thankful for today:
                                   - The peace in my heart
                                   - The healthy baby growing inside of me
                                   - A wonderful, attentive husband
                                   - Always having what we need
                                   - A great community of friends and family
What are you thankful for today?

Update

I went to the midwife yesterday to check in, and I have not dialated any further which was great news.  I'm still having contractions on a daily basis, but since I've started resting more, they haven't just come on and stayed consisitent.  The midwife didn't seem to be to concerned as long at they're not getting stronger and harder and as long as I'm not progressing with dialation. This was a big relief.  They want to see me again in a week, and I'm on modified bed rest which means I can do a few things here and there, but I need to take breaks in between and put my feet up.  What a hard life! :)  Don't tell anyone but I'm kind of loving this part of it.  :)
